Four students build an eco-friendly car- 120km/litre!

Students of Indira Gandhi Delhi Women’s Technical University have constructed a unique eco-car, which is cheaper and environment friendly and have been designed with the old vehicle parts.
In Shail Eco Marathon (car) design, bamboo, Scootys's engines, bicycles and plastic fibres have been used. This unique Indian car will show its strength in Spung International Circuit in Malaysia next month.

The car will be displayed at the time of the formal opening of the University.

102 cc engine
According to, the student of Department of Mechanical Engineering and team leader Ishita Sehgal , the vehicle frame is made of  bamboo wood, in which 102 cc engine of Honda Activa and the three tyres of bicycles have been installed. Because of eco vehicle and to reduce weight of the vehicle this unique car's body is crafted from fibre reinforce plastic. The roof has been made of polycarbonate sheet with glass.

Top speed is 140 km

To reduce costs old automobile parts from Market have been used. In racing eco car normal petrol would be used, which will give a mileage of 120 km in a litre. Its maximum speed will be 140 kilometres.
